The Story behind the name

Muroc is named after the Air Force base that produced some of the best test pilots our nation hase ever seen.

One such man was Chuck yeager, the WWII double Ace who broke the sound barrier for the first time in the Bell X-1 “Glamorous Glennis.”

Most people thought the sound barrier was as good as a solid wall, and trying to break through it was suicide.

That didn’t deter Yeager. HE wasn’t satisfied with theories. He would push his aircraft to the limit and see what was really there.

Nothing would stop him, not even two broken ribs. And on October 17, 1947, He broke the sound barrier for the first time ever, beginning the age of supersonic flight.
